Growing up I played every sport I possibly could, including Baseball, Golf, Volleyball, Basketball and my favourite being Women’s Touch Football; which I still continue to play. I met Coach Tavia while playing Football and she was the first person I had ever heard about CrossFit from. She always praised how great and beneficial it was in helping her develop and improve in sport. It wasn’t until 2012 when I went to visit my sister in Mexico and tried CrossFit for the first time. I instantly loved it! I just had knee surgery 7 months prior to going to Mexico; so at first I wasn’t sure if I would even be able to do it. After my first class I couldn’t believe what my body was capable of! I loved how everything was scalable and modifiable for my knee. I saw CrossFit as an excellent way to build strength and improve my conditioning; but also as a great way to rehab my knee. It’s crazy how a trip down to Mexico turned into the start of a coaching career in CrossFit after completing my CF-L1 down there. Coaching in Mexico for 3 years was such an amazing experience and a great way to learn Spanish. When I returned home I completed my CF-L2 here in Toronto and have been coaching ever since.

What is your biggest contribution as a Coach?
I absolutely love making connections with people and I love helping people to achieve things that they never thought were possible!

What is your favourite movement/workout and why?
I love what everyone hates and that would be Burpees! I didn’t like them at first because it was uncomfortable for my knee, but after doing them so much they became easier for me.

Least favourite movement/workout and why?
Thrusters and Wall Balls!!!! They have me gasping for air after 10 reps.

Advice for someone starting or wanting to start CrossFit?
So many people think they already need to be fit before starting but it’s the complete opposite. CrossFit is what gets you fit and you can start at any level.
