COACH

I started to do Tae Kwon Do at a very young age, which could explain my unusual mobility / flexibility. Over the years I took part in some local and provincial competitions. During college, I joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) where I had to improve my fitness in order to perform better at my job. It is in 2016 that I made first contact with CrossFit through Diane, she started doing Crossfit while deployed to Kuwait. I immediately fell in love with CrossFit. I couldn’t believe that I never used a barbell before! My first workout was Dirty Thirty and it left me on the floor dying! It’s at that point that I realized that I needed to make a lot of improvements and I have been working on it ever since. I completed my CF-L1 in 2019 in Halifax. Since then, I have coached at military affiliates in New-Brunswick and also in Egypt.
What is your biggest contribution as a Coach?
I love pushing people outside of their comfort zone because when they try something different and they succeed there is a sense of accomplishment.
What is your favourite movement/workout and why?
Burpees, once you find your pace you just have to maintain it. It can be regular, over the bar, over the box, doesn’t matter.
Least favourite movement/workout and why?
Thrusters and wall balls were designed to make you suffer. My heart rate goes through the roof and then I have to do some damage control!
Advice for someone starting or wanting to start CrossFit?

CrossFit looks daunting at first but it is meant to be for everyone. It doesn’t matter what your fitness level is, you can adjust / scale the movements and weights so that you will work just as hard as someone that has been doing it for years!”
