COACH

Since I was a kid, I’ve always loved playing sports and games that involved any kind of movement. If it was inserted in a competitive environment, even better. Even though I was able to play any sport (but soccer, funny enough!), I’ve always found myself changing modalities. Before, I played handball and practiced MMA for most of my high-school/college years, always combined with bodybuilding. After one year living abroad, I decided to try something new that had just started in my home town: CrossFit. My first Saturday WOD was Murph, and it crushed my soul! It was that day when I fell in love with the program, the community and the sport.

What is your favourite movement/workout and why?
Without a doubt, the Snatch. It is one of the most complex movements we can perform, second to the pole vault. The perfect balance between strength, speed and mobility makes it a beautiful demonstration of athleticism.

Least favourite movement/workout and why?
Chest to Bars. I tend to fatigue really fast when doing them, and my build doesn’t help the muscular endurance necessary to perform them. Once they’re gone, it’s hard to keep going.

What do you like to do outside CrossFit?
I love meeting with friends and going out on a date with my girlfriend. I also like food and music; I go to concerts and festivals whenever I get the chance. When on vacation, I always like to go to new places and explore.

Advice for someone starting or wanting to start CrossFit?
It might seem as though you require an athletic background to start CrossFit, but that’s absolutely not true. Regardless of your baseline fitness level, CrossFit will always have a way to make you better. In this environment, nothing replaces hard work!
