As long as I can remember I have always been involved and fascinated by sports. As a young child, instead of watching cartoons I would watch Sports Center. I was on both the rep soccer and hockey team; in high school I joined the basketball, volleyball and soccer teams and this carried on into College where I played on the Varsity Soccer Team.
After college I struggled to find a way to keep sports in my life. I began getting into some bad habits and started living an unhealthy lifestyle. I knew about CrossFit from my past sport training experiences and decided to give it a try. The first workout was the most challenging thing I had done in years! As I was struggling to complete a sentence after the WOD, I found myself at the front desk signing up for an unlimited membership. I was hooked!

What brought you to coaching?
When I was young child I had open heart surgery and was told that I would never be able to play competitive sports or exert myself too much. I am happy how far I have come with my abilities since the surgery. When I got into coaching, my overall goal was to be able to share my life experience and the positive effect Crossfitcan have. I wanted to be able to make people feel great about themselves and truly proud of what you can accomplish with a little hard work a lot of dedication.

Favourite movement/ workout and why?
My favourite movement definitely has to be Wall Balls. My height definitely helps me out with this one! I have so many favourite workouts, but Grace takes the cake. It’s a sprint and I love the challenge.

Least favourite movement/ workout and why?
My least favourite movement/workout is anything with double unders. Believe it or not, I couldn’t even skip when I started CrossFit.

What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?
I am huge into the outdoors. Camping, hiking, climbing mountains and swimming are all things I really enjoy. Oh yeah and watching the Leafs!

Advice for someone starting or wanting to start CrossFit?
It may be intimidating when your first walk into the gym. If you keep at it you will find that everyone else there wants to see you succeed regardless of the amount of weight you can lift or the speed you can do things in. CrossFit is super welcoming and the community is something you wont be able to find at a conventional gym.
